A month since my last post?

Wow, it’s been awhile. I’ve been busy. Planting a new church is a LOT of work.

In the last month I have not had an office to go to. Our adventure has begun. With a few pats on the back, a hug or two and kind words, we said good-bye to the church we have served the last eleven years and became pioneers. We’ve been painting the house and fixing things up to sell it and downsize. I’ve been making contacts, lauching a website, getting all our social networking ducks in a row and praying.

My blood pressure has dropped 15 points on average. It feels so good to finally be pursuing what God has called us to. It’s been hard keeping the secret from my church friends for two years. I’ve felt like a liar. I like to be open and direct but it all had to wait. And now, that pressure is gone. Ahhhh …

We have to cut our budget and learn to live on a lot less. My tent-making jobs of photography and web design won’t pay the nice package I was getting at our big, comfy church. But we’re at peace with that. We know that God has given us all a command that He takes very seriously – to do all we can to see people find Christ. He told us it would be hard, costly and take sacrifice but, it’s what He has called His followers to.

I dare you to read scripture and come up with a different job description or commission for you and me. You can’t do it.

The only choice is to obey or not obey.
