I woke up this morning with no noticeable pain. Through the night I woke at 1:30, 2:30 and 4:30. Toddlers fight to stay awake. We who are older fight to stay asleep. I’d love to sleep right through the night tonight. Sleep is great medicine.
Does your stomach ever growl? Does it growl so loud that you’re sure other people notice. I sound like a pod of whales. It’s weird because I can literally hear things moving around. I just ate some breakfast and now my right side sounds like a haunted mansion. I wonder if it has anything to do with my liver disease.
As I write this I am sitting in what once was a billiards room in a historic house in Castine called “Northrup Cottage.” When it was built it was an escape from a terrible cholera outbreak in New York City. Over the past several years it has become an escape for me. It is so quiet, so peaceful and the views are gorgeous. I read, write, pray, doze and escape ringing phones, demands and deadlines. Where do you go to recharge?
This morning I came across Romans 9:20 while sitting in a rocking chair, reading the ancient book that has been so alive in my life …
Who in the world do you think you are to second-guess God? Do you for one moment suppose any of us knows enough to call God into question? Clay doesn’t talk back to the fingers that mold it, saying, “Why did you shape me like this?”
If you could totally understand all of God, who would be larger, you or God? Think about that for a minute. If you or I had all the answers and knew why God allows this or does that, we would have to be larger than God. Containers can only contain things that have less volume. If you and I could contain all the mysteries and knowledge of the Creator, he would be smaller than us.
We’ve had a great day together. I’m so thankful for our missional community of friends and the way they love. I went strong until about 4 but am now tired and my legs are cramping up a bit. My electric throw heats them up nicely and makes them relax.
It’s been a good day! I’m very thankful for all your prayers.
I loved your blog this morning. My stomach does the same thing scott, but most of the time it means a potty break LOL. My church is praying hard for us. They were so glad you got an appoitment at Lahey, Are you going to Boston or Burlington. Yes the warming blanket does do wonders on the cramping. Glad you are having a great time this weekend on your reteat, we can never have enought of them. Love you.
