Watching you walk away

Goodbye, my friend
I hope you’ll walk this slim path with me again
in the future
quickly.

Make your mistakes
if you must.
I pray that your scars
will not go too deep
and do permanent damage.

Our Father loves you
and has time and mercy.
He will let you take out your blade
sharpen its edge
and plunge it angrily
into His heart.
He will bleed for you
again.

I just don’t understand
how you can walk away from Love.

You say you know His book
and that He is love alone.
Can holiness only be boundless
love for everyone, everywhere
and no judgment?

You create God in your image.
No wrath, no judgment, no holiness.
You want no judgment.
Why not?
Is it the wide path you walk?

Maybe I’m right and He’s waiting at the table
Maybe it happened when I saw it was my sin
Maybe He’s waiting for a chance to show you true love
Maybe you’ll never get this chance again

I’m a fool, so are you
I’m a fool, so are you
Maybe you think I’m a fool for what I’m saying
Maybe that’s what I’d like to be
Or maybe you’re a fool to say you’re a wise man
Either way you lose unless you meet with my King.

Sounds like a plaintive plea to a son following the Prodical’s trail. May he return on a narrow trail experiencing that Love and Mercy.
