I’m a cheater

I’m a cheater.

Have you ever been cheated on? Betrayed? Stabbed in the back by someone you love? It hurts.

Cheating kills intimacy. It drives a wedge and puts up a wall. Cheaters take love and stomp on it. Cheaters say one thing and then do another.

I’m a cheater. I know how it works. I’m pretty good at it too.

The Bible is full of cheaters like me. God gives us life, gives us grace and wants to walk with us, to rub shoulders with us. He gives us all and deserves that we give Him all.

This week I saw God’s hurting heart at our betrayal in Genesis 6 and Micah 6. Micah 6:8 says it’s simple; do right, show love and walk humbly with God.

I tell God He’s number one and then I hurt His heart by not doing the right thing, being a jerk and walking my own way. I cheat on God.

I don’t want to hurt God’s heart. I want to rub shoulders with Him.

Lord, help me to follow after you.
